The first two and a half months of 2016 have been spent attempting to get settled into my new house. Unfortunately, we had a few family events that had postponed the renovations and we are still in the process of moving in. I definitely didn’t think that nearly three months after getting the keys, I would STILL be camping out in my parent’s basement. Yet here we are – March 14th and I am currently sleeping on a mattress on the floor of a basement filled with boxes waiting to be moved… BUT we are close! Like days away from moving in close. We had planned to make the big move this past Saturday but I decided to buy a vanity from IKEA that does not fit with the plumping in our bathroom and now has to be cut and therefore we do not have a sink in our bathroom and who can get ready for work in the morning without a sink? Not I.
The good news: There are plans to have our vanity installed tomorrow and the new shower tiles will be waxed so perhaps by Wednesday we will be blogging from our beautiful new home! Let’s keep those fingers crossed. I’m not sure I will survive if I have to see another mortgage payment come out of my account while I’m still sleeping in my parent’s basement.
Aside from constantly stressing about the state of my new house, I’ve been trying to spend as much time outside as possible! We had a lot of perfect winter days this year and I have been able to knock some stuff off my winter bucket list. I think I have a new appreciation for Northern Ontario. I actually got outside and explored and it was beautiful. Seriously, we are so lucky to have so many amazing trails, parks, waterfalls in this part of the province. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to check out them all but I now have a seriously long list for next winter.
Our Crater has been taking up the majority of my free time but I really love it. I think I’ve realized that I’m most passionate about sharing my favourite city with people. Sudbury is home and now that I have my house, a career a fun side project, I don’t see myself ever moving so I’m excited to be able to share all that it has to offer with other Sudburians/anyone interested in reading about Our Crater!
I just really like this photo me and my Our Crater co-founders that we posted on International Women’s Day because #GirlPower right?
